DTC were recently chosen to install a new spray booth, curing oven and drying room to modernise and improve productivity in a factory for a major worldwide company in transportation engineering. Experienced project manager Nigel Inggs, who specialises in factory transformations in the aerospace, defence, and rail industries led the team that selected DTC to carry out the work.
“We already had a great relationship with DTC, they are always looking to deliver sustainable improvements to manufacturing systems and totally understand what their customer’s business is looking to achieve. They are always approachable and proactive in everything they do”.

Brecknell Willis Composites was formed in 1996 and is an industry leader in the full life cycle of GRP design, manufacture and repair of tooling, pre-production and volume production using current manufacturing techniques and processes. Based in Chard, Somerset the production team is supported by a comprehensive trimming, assembly and finishing department, complete with spray paint and bake and curing ovens.
As part of the business’s continuous improvement drive, a major re-organisation was planned to consolidate the operation into one building from three and equip it with a new curing oven and a state-of-the art spray/bake facility, complete with mixing and drying rooms. Now, all processes are organised into a logical flow sequence with increased efficiency and as part of the workflow improvement, DTC also erected a partition wall to keep two non-sequential processes separate.
With a strict deadline to work to the project was carried out seamlessly. It’s fair to say Nigel is extremely happy with the results:
“We’ve gone from the STONE AGE to the SPACE AGE with DTC’s support. This has added a new dimension to our business relationship with DTC, as we now consider them to be not just a consumables and small tools supplier, but also a trusted provider and integrator of major capital equipment”.
On the whole, it’s been a massive success helping transform the composite business at the Brecknell Willis factory into a workshop environment both customer and DTC are proud of. The relationship remains strong and the two will continue to work with each other in the future.
Please make an enquiry with the DTC projects department if you are looking for support to procure, deliver and install bespoke workshop facilities.
